About Galoy
Galoy is building the core banking system built for this moment:
- Architecture designed for efficient AI-assisted development, operations and customer experience.
- Ledger built to handle both fiat and digital assets natively.
The Galoy core equips de novo and established banks and credit unions to compete in a financial system transformed by digital assets and artificial intelligence. Its unified architecture is written in Rust and event-sourced throughout, giving banks a secure, replayable record of the past and the flexibility to adopt new technology.
Galoy’s open-source AI harness, Drua, connects AI agents to the core through MCP, with every agent scoped and every action logged. It is designed to serve three groups: developers building new products, staff managing daily operations, and customers served through LLM-based assistants.
About the Role
The Chief Business Officer leads Galoy’s work with banks and credit unions in the United States. The role has two parts: building relationships with the leaders of US financial institutions, and shaping how Galoy supports them.
The successful candidate brings operating experience from inside a financial institution or core banking provider and is recognized as a peer by bank and credit union executives. They combine that experience with the product judgment to shape the core into a clear, well-packaged offering for US institutions. The role owns outcomes in the US market and is consultative; it does not carry a sales quota.
Responsibilities
Institutional leadership
- Lead engagements with US banks and credit unions from initial introduction through diligence, requirements definition, architecture review and procurement.
- Serve as Galoy’s authority on core banking operations, including general ledger and accounting, deposits, lending and servicing, payment rails, partner banking and bank operations.
- Own Galoy’s responses on examination readiness, audit, regulatory reporting, vendor due diligence and third-party risk management.
- Represent Galoy with industry associations, supervisory bodies and at sector conferences.
Product definition and direction
- Define what Galoy offers US institutions: which modules are available, how they are configured, what is in scope, and how mature each capability is.
- Turn what institutions need into product direction, and work with engineering leadership on sequencing.
- Maintain a single authoritative record of current capability for use across sales, marketing and engineering.
- Shape positioning and competitive framing against incumbent core providers, in partnership with marketing.
Commercial ownership
- Develop packaging, pricing, implementation scope and phasing for the US market with the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
- Contribute to the US go-to-market plan and, over time, help build the team that delivers it.
Qualifications
- Ten or more years in banking, credit unions or core banking providers, including senior operating responsibility.
- Direct experience operating, selecting, implementing or replacing a core banking system.
- Demonstrated product leadership in defining, packaging or bringing to market technology products for financial institutions.
- Working fluency with the US regulatory environment and experience engaging with examiners and supervisors.
- Ability to work directly with senior engineers, read architecture documentation and engage on technical trade-offs.
- Strong written and verbal communication with executive, technical and regulatory audiences.
- Knowledge of Bitcoin, stablecoins and digital assets, or a clear commitment to developing it.
Preferred
- Executive experience at a US bank, credit union or core banking vendor.
- Credit union experience.
- Experience with de novo charter formation or establishing a new line of business within a regulated institution.
- Experience evaluating and selecting core vendors from the institution side.
- Hands-on experience with bank accounting and general ledger systems.
